The Name and Meaning

Art of Deduction Journal is created by Brooklyn College Communications student Amanda Morgan. The title was chosen as a nod to the deductive proficiency of the fictional character Sherlock Holmes. The name “Art of Deduction” focuses on deductive reasoning; which is comprised of the processes of observing and reasoning one or more statements (premises) to reach a logically assured conclusion. The ultimate goal of the Art of Deduction Journal is to be the entity to not only disseminate information but simulate thinking critically through logical deductions.

“1. I observe everything. 2. From what I observe, I deduce everything. 3. When I have eliminated the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how mad it might seem, must be the truth.” – Sherlock Holmes

The Mission

Too often in society information is given and conclusions are reached before the usage of logical deduction. The objective is to inform those who want to understand the world by directing attention to what matters while simulating the necessary steps of deduction.  The aim is to be the most current, popular and prevailing engine for independent, insightful, meaningful and impartial reported journalism.
